Venue Description
Stade de France is the national stadium of France, located in Saint-Denis, just north of Paris. Built for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, it was the site of France's historic victory over Brazil in the final. The stadium is renowned for its elliptic roof, which appears to float above the stands and protects fans while leaving the pitch uncovered. Uniquely, the stadium has a movable lower stand that can be retracted to reveal an athletics track. It is the only stadium in the world to have hosted both a Football World Cup final and a Rugby World Cup final.
Historical Milestones
Inaugurated by President Jacques Chirac in January 1998, it has hosted the 1998 FIFA World Cup, the 2007 and 2023 Rugby World Cups, multiple UEFA Champions League finals (2000, 2006, 2022), and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
