Venue Description

The Atatürk Olympic Stadium is the largest stadium in Turkey, located in the western outskirts of Istanbul. Built to support Turkey's bid for the Olympic Games, it features two massive crescent-shaped steel roof arches that shield its main stands. The stadium is legendary in football history as the venue for the 2005 UEFA Champions League Final, where Liverpool came back from 3-0 down at halftime to defeat AC Milan on penalties, a match forever remembered as the "Miracle of Istanbul."

Historical Milestones

Opened in 2002, the stadium has hosted matches for Galatasaray, Beşiktaş, and Fatih Karagümrük during league groundshares. It hosted the UEFA Champions League Finals in 2005 and 2023.
