Venue Description
The Estádio da Luz, officially named Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, is the home of Portuguese giants SL Benfica. Known as the "Stadium of Light," its design focuses on maximizing natural sunlight through a translucent polycarbonate roof supported by huge arch structures. Before every home game, Benfica's live bald eagle mascot (Vitória) flies around the pitch and lands on the club crest, a legendary tradition that delights supporters.
Historical Milestones
Built for UEFA Euro 2004, the new stadium replaced Benfica's original stadium of the same name. It hosted the Euro 2004 final and two Champions League finals (2014 and the 2020 final tournament).
