Venue Description

The Johan Cruyff Arena (formerly Amsterdam Arena) is the home of AFC Ajax and the Dutch national team. Opened in 1996, it was the first stadium in Europe to feature a retractable roof. In 2018, it was officially renamed to honor Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff. The arena is a global leader in sustainability, powered by over 4,200 solar panels and a wind turbine, and utilizing a massive energy storage system made of second-life electric vehicle batteries to power its events.

Historical Milestones

Opened by Queen Beatrix in August 1996. The stadium hosted the 1998 Champions League final, the 2013 Europa League final, and multiple Euro 2000 and Euro 2020 matches.
